It’s time to get excited because Irish Summer Festival Season is just upon us!
From fashion choices to hydration strategies, navigating the festival scene requires a little prep that goes a long way. Whether you're pitching up for a weekend stay or setting off for the day, check out our list of Do’s and Don’ts for this Festival Season in Ireland!
Do: Opt for Comfortable Footwear
While fashion is important, comfort should also be a priority, especially when it comes to footwear. Choose shoes that are comfortable for walking and dancing throughout the day. Your feet will thank you!
Don’t: Forget your Jacket
Remember you are in Ireland, bring the rain jacket instead of the extra pair of flipflops. Light layers are always a good idea to keep warm and to peel off for when the sun decides to come out. Wet feet are a special kind of torture, you can never pack too many pairs of socks!
Do: Pack the Essentials
The shower queue is never as appealing as you think... Baby wipes will become your new festival best friend. Hand sanitiser and deodorant wouldn’t go a miss either! We recommend you bring some loo roll, for obvious reasons. And for those who are blessed with luscious long locks, grab some dry shampoo and spare hair ties.
Everyone’s experienced the panic of being lost at festival, cut off from friends with no way to contact them because your phone has died. A portable phone charger will be your lifesaver!
Don’t: Bring the Kitchen Sink
You won’t need all your valuables. Things will most likely go missing... you’re probably best to leave the laptop and piles of gold at home.
Being cut off from friends with no way to contact them because your phone has died is not the most exciting part of your festival experience. Don’t forget a portable phone charger, it will be your lifesaver!
Do: Keep Hydrated
Drink ridiculous amounts of water and stay hydrated throughout the day.
Don’t: Over-do it
Festival days can be long and exhausting, so listen to your body and know your limits. Pace yourself throughout the day, take breaks when needed. Your festival experience will be much more enjoyable if you take care of yourself.
Do: Keep an Open Mind
Plans are good but don’t try to be everywhere all at once. Make time for some exploring. There’s a lot to be said for finding new people or trying new things at a festival.
Don’t: Keep an Open Wallet
Always be careful where you keep your money. It can and will disappear very quickly if you’re not cautious.
And Don’t Forget to Have Fun!
Above all else, remember to have fun and enjoy the experience! Summer festivals are a chance to let loose and make memories. Embrace the energy, dance like nobody's watching, and savour every moment of it!
